Opening the first hydrogen plant

On Wednesday, May 31, the hydrogen production facility Stord Hydrogen and the test center it is part of, Energy House, will open at Stord.

This will be HYDS’ first plant in operation, and it will be officially opened by the Mayor of Stord Municipality, Gaute Straume Epland, and CEO Thor Henrik W. Hagen, during the “Energy House Day” event.

This is a big day for hydrogen production in Norway and a milestone for HYDS, Greenstat and Alltec Services, who together own Stord Hydrogen. When production of green hydrogen starts at the plant at the end of May, it will have a capacity of 140 tons per year. The plant will thus become a leader in the production of green hydrogen in Norway, and will almost double the amount of green hydrogen that will be commercially available to individual customers in this country.

Energy House also has its official opening on this day. Energy House is a world-leading test center for maritime energy systems and the fuel of the future. Stord Hydrogen delivers green hydrogen directly to the test center, utilizes the power produced in the tests at Energy House and uses it to produce hydrogen. In addition, the hydrogen plant can deliver pressurized hydrogen directly to other customers via transportable high-pressure tanks.

At the opening, the key players behind Energy House will present themselves, and there will be a guided tour of the area. During the event, we will also provide the latest status from the groundbreaking projects that are being tested and developed in Energy House.
