HYDS enters into strategic partnership with leading US player in liquid green hydrogen production

Titusville, Florida and Stord, Norway (February 13, 2023) - HYDS and GenH2 today announced a strategic partnership to produce liquid green hydrogen in Norway and the rest of the Nordic region. The solutions will be available through Liquiline, and are based on GenH2's integrated hydrogen liquefaction and storage technology.

The agreement is a very important milestone for HYDS’ commitment to locally produced green hydrogen in maritime transport, where liquid hydrogen has major advantages compared to compressed hydrogen.

“Solutions for scalable production of liquid green hydrogen in smaller volumes have not been commercially available in the market. The fully integrated solutions from GenH2 represent a game changer in this context. The solutions make it possible to produce liquid green hydrogen at competitive prices close to the users, without costly and complicated transport. Especially in ship bunkering, this will open up exciting new opportunities. HYDS has explored several solutions for liquefaction of hydrogen. The choice fell on GenH2’s modular technology, primarily because the technology has high safety requirements, is user-friendly and well suited for integration with other technologies”, says Thor Henrik W. Hagen, CEO of HYDS.

GenH2 is focusing on serial production of the solutions/infrastructure needed to make hydrogen a truly zero-emission alternative. The company’s technology enables the safe liquefaction, storage and distribution of locally produced green hydrogen. HYDS is a new and fast-growing player in the Norwegian hydrogen market. The company focuses on scalable and turnkey plants based on commercially available and proven technology.

“We are pleased to partner with HYDS and its subsidiary Liquiline to provide local production and storage of liquid hydrogen in Norway,” said Greg Gosnell, President and CEO of GenH2. “Being able to produce and store hydrogen locally reduces the costs and risks associated with the liquid hydrogen supply chain. The partnership with HYDS opens up the Nordic market to us and creates a great opportunity to accelerate the transition to clean energy in this very important market.”

“After a close and fruitful dialogue over several years, we are very pleased to formalise our collaboration with GenH2. This gives us access to their leading scalable technology for liquefaction of hydrogen, and we are very proud that they have chosen us as their partner. Together with GenH2 and HYDS, we are now ready to start building a value chain for liquid hydrogen in the Nordics, with a main focus on maritime end customers”, says Knut Førland, CEO of Liquiline.
